When did Stan Dashew start writing his memoirs for You Can Do It!?
Over fifty years ago, during a cruise on his sailboat Royal Fortune, Stan wrote a letter home telling of his desire to write a book about his experiences and adventures.
Nearly forty years later, he started to take pen to paper, yet—busy with business--he needed egging on by his daughter Leslie who then initiated taped interviews.
Those transcripts and new interviews, along with 100-year-old archives of photos, business letters, personal correspondence, annual reports, and magazine article tearsheets,
were compiled into a manuscript by his co-author Josef Klus over the following 10 years.
What are your Submission Guidelines?
Although we like to encourage authors in the pursuit of publication and their vocation, currently, we are not accepting new submissions.
How did Constellation get its name?
From the reflective inspiration one receives when gazing at the night’s heavenly expanse, in far away places, sheltered from city light and tumult.
What is forthcoming for Constellation Press?
By popular request, in 2011, we plan to release second edition of You Can Do It! illustrated with Dashew’s private collection of his own photography.
We are also discussing coffee table book photo essays on themes such as portraits, travel, land, sea, and sky, as well as abstract photographic art.
