stan-at-helmStanley A. Dashew, born in 1916 in the middle of Harlem in New York City, founded a number of companies, including Dashew Business Machines that produced revolutionary embossing machines, which formed the foundation for today’s plastic credit card industry.  His inventions led to the creation of the first bank credit card system—BankAmericard.   An 8-time boat owner, he set sail in 1949 with his wife, 7-year-old son, and 3-month-old daughter on a daring 15-month adventure aboard a 76-foot schooner, Constellation. Proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he still wakes up in the middle of the night to work on designs for current product concepts.
